Tornado...

An unofficial tornado went through the town where I live this morning at 4:00am, and my house was right in the middle of it. We were hunched in the hallway for almost an hour after the tornado warnings started sounding. School was cancelled for our school district, so I do not have students today. When I got up this morning, I saw that almost every yard in my neighborhood had a tree either uprooted or snapped in half. Several houses in my neighborhood were damaged, as well as many other neighborhood's around town. The electricity has been out since 4:15am, and a gas line was busted. (I am at my friend's house, who lives on the other side of town and has electricity, writing this post.) Light posts were blown over, trees uprooted, roofs blown off houses and a 15 year-old girl confirmed dead. Somehow, our house did not get any damage and our trees are still standing. For that, I am thanking my Lord. My town needs your prayers. There is a lot of damage and a long road ahead for many families. Thank you so much! Here are some pictures... (all but two are on my street)

This is my yard:

This is my neighbor's driveway...

This is my other neighbor's yard...

These are across the street from my house...

This is my neighbor's neighbor (two houses from us)...

...a few houses down from us

...across the road from the previous house

...just several houses from us

...a house on the street parallel from ours

...the house next to them

These are just a very small few of the many houses/yards that were damaged.

Remember what my yard looked like? Nothing except one small limb... Thank you, Father for keeping us safe. I am greiving for those who were not as fortunate. Please watch over them, comfort them and provide for them, Lord. Show me how I can help and be a servant to the families on my street. Bless them all. Thank you and I love you...

I am so glad your house was untouched! I read about the 15 year old this morning--that breaks my heart! We had lots of wind and there are trees down all over our neighborhood, but nothing like what you got.

That is so scary! I'm always scared of bad weather in the middle of the night and early morning. I'm glad you could get to safety and you were all okay.

I guess I didn't know exactly where you lived. Thank God you were safe. Isn't it amazing that he is so in control of the storms. It broke my heart to hear about the girl. Siloam has been through it this year between the winter weather, floods, and now this. We'll pray for you town!
