The Word on Wednesday...

What does it mean to be a woman? How does God view me? Who am I?

Captivating. Beauty. Essential. Comforting. Inspiring. The finishing touch.

"God created man in His own image...male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27

God created you as a woman. Whatever it means to bear God's own image, you do so as a woman. Female. That's how and where you bear His image. Your feminine heart has been created with the greatest of all possible dignities- as a reflection of God's own heart.

"The King is enthralled by your beauty." Psalm 45:11

(Excerpt from Captivating)
It is nearing the end of the sixth day, the end of the Creator's great labor, as Adam steps forth, the image of God, the triumph of his work. He alone is pronounced the son of God. Nothing in creation even comes close. Truly, the masterpiece seems complete. And yet, the Master says that something is not good, not right. Something is missing... and that something is Eve.

"And the Lord God cast a deep slumber on the human, and he slept, and He took one of his ribs and closed over the flesh where it had been, and the Lord God built the rib He had taken from the human into a woman and He brought her to the human." Genesis 2:21-23

She is the crescendo, the final, astonishing work of God. Woman. In one last flourish creation comes to a finish not with Adam, but with Eve. She is the Master's finishing touch. Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds to ever higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the crown of creation? Not an afterthought. Not a nice addition like an ornament on a tree. She is God's final touch. She fills a place in the world nothing and no one else can fill. Woman.

Step to a window, ladies, if you can. Look out across the earth and say to yourselves, "The whole, vast world is incomplete without me. Creation reached its zenith in me."

Lord, thank you for creating me in Your image. You made me perfect as a woman. Help me to understand and remember the important role I play in this world, that it is not complete without me. Thank you that I am captivating, beautiful, essential, comforting, inspiring, the finishing touch in Your creation. Help me to never forget how important I am to You and how much You love me. I love you, Father!

Hello Darlin'! I am here from Leigh's site. She had such lovely things to say about you I had to stop by and say hello.

Hello!

Anyway, I love your take on being a woman of God. Proverbs Woman has always hung over my head as the unattainable goal, that which I could aspire to in parts but never fully be. OH, if my children would just one day rise and call me Blessed!

Your post makes me feel like I already am Blessed!

Take Care Amy.
