The Word on Wednesday...

I have had this on my mind since last night (after writing my last post), plus I'm not going to be home on Wednesday, so I'm doing my W.O.W. a day early...

"We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success comes from God." 2 Corinthians 3:4-5

"Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. For the Lord is good; His loving kindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness to all generations." Psalm 100

"Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory..." Revelation 19:7

"I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame". Psalm 34:1-5

After writing my post yesterday, I started thinking about it a few hours later. (While in bed.) It dawned on me that I didn't even give God praise in my post for the answered prayers! I talk the talk, say that I give Him the glory for all things, etc, but I failed Him yesterday. Lord forgive me for not giving you all the glory.

First of all, Zayde's tubes and ears looked great at his ENT follow-up appointment! To God be the glory!! We've had many friends and family praying with us for Zayde's surgery to be successful and for the tubes to work. It is because of those prayers and God's faithfulness that everything looked great on Friday. Thank you, Lord.

Secondly, I need to thank God for giving me my motherly instincts. "It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success comes from God." Thank you, Lord for giving me that nudge to take Zayde to the ER and be seen by a doctor. It is for that reason that he got started on antibiotics 3 days sooner than he would have if I would have waited.

Next, I need to praise God publicly for helping Zack pass his EMT test. Right after we got his test results, I cried out a prayer of praise and thanksgiving. Again, we had many friends and family praying with us for him to do well. Zack didn't even study for the test, so we KNOW that it was by God's grace that he passed. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." It was God who gave Zack the knowledge he needed to pass, the memory to recall information and the common sense to make educated guesses. We would have had to pay another $70 to retake the test if he had not passed. Thank you, Lord for your faithfulness!

Oh, Amy, I am humbled by your conviction.. You are so right. It is sometimes so easy to go day after day and forget to offer a prayer of thanks to our Father. But He truly is the One who is so merciful and loving. He really does take care of His sheep. "Thank you, Father!"

This is so true for me, as well. I take for granted the moments I should give God praise for even the littlest blessings.

Praise God, indeed!

So, true. I fall into this same way of thinking all of the time even though I know that everything is from Him. Why not show thanks more often? I'm glad you reminded me!
